RAS server and callback
DEFENDO can be used as a dial-in server for remote access (RAS). ISDN D-channel callback is supported by DEFENDO. With D-channel
callback there won't be any charge for the RAS client. Most ISDN routers support this callback type. The client calls the
RAS server which identifies the client by its caller ID. The call is rejected and the server calls the client using a preconfigured
number.
Hence the D-channel callback feature should only be used if
- the client supports it
- the client does not suppress its caller ID
- the client has one (or few) unvariable phone numbers
Note that the dial-up network of Microsoft Windows does not support D-channel callback but a different callback type. If the
windows client calls the RAS server the call is accepted. The client authenticates itself. On success the connection is hung
up and the server calls the client. With DEFENDO being the RAS server Microsoft's callback type is not supported. As a client
DEFENDO is supporting it however. Please contact technical support for details on this callback type.
